How can we compute or simulate the time evolution of quantum many-body systems on near-term quantum computers? This is currently one of the most pressing questions in the field. Prof. Michael J. Hartmann gave his inaugural talk on “Quantum Computing on Current Quantum Hardware” on the 5th of July discussing quantum simulation as a candidate for applications of quantum computing that can non longer be calculated classically.

Even though his research group started already before Covid, the lecture was moved until Covid had safely passed. All the more, the audience enjoyed the lecture as well as the subsequent buffet without restrictions.
